A few months ago, we wrote a post about the benefits of female friendships. We shared four facts about how having girlfriends improves your overall health.
However, we don’t think we went deep enough… There are many more reasons girlfriends are important in women’s lives.
Think about it. Your girlfriends are the only women in your life that you actually chose to be around. And while mothers, grandmothers, sisters, and cousins are important people in all of our lives – and were important to our initial development – they were people we were “born into.” We didn’t choose them.
If family ties were enough to keep us going, none of us would seek out other female friendships. And yet, we do! That’s because women need other women. Girlfriends are important. (more…)
