Yoga and Surf Retreat- 7 Expectations You Should Have
Yoga and Surf Retreat sounds like an amazing idea, right? Yeah, for us too! All new experiences can be a little unnerving when you don’t know exactly what to expect. So that’s why we’re here to help guide the way! While each experience will be a little different, here’s what you can expect on a yoga and surf retreat.
Yoga
Let’s go ahead and state the obvious- a yoga and surf retreat will include daily yoga, sometimes yoga twice per day. The yoga will be led by a professional yoga instructor who guides you through your practice. When the day starts off with a guided meditation and spiritual yoga practice, you become physically and mentally prepared for whatever adventure and experiences lie. With the help of a small adjustment in perception in the morning, this creates a wake of magic for the rest of the day.
Surf
Yoga and surf retreats might as well be called adventure retreats! Just as the name indicuates, you can also expect to find some gnarly waves… errrr… some gentle beginner waves… whatever fits your fancy! Either way, you’ll be one with the surf board and sea in no time. Surfing has a way of bringing your mind to the present and making you acutely aware of nature’s power and the ever-changing moods of the ocean. Whether you’re a beginner, pro, or somewhere in between, we’ll have an instructor to suit your needs and guide you through the waves. As they say, you can’t stop the waves, but you can learn to surf!
Adventure
Most likely, the itinerary is packed with adventures other yoga and surf. Check the local area for fitness-based adventures. If you’re in Costa Rica, maybe try horseback riding up an active volcano or zip lining through the canopies of the rainforest. If you’re in Bali, journey through the famous rice terraces or scope out the sacred holy water ceremonies. If you’re in Mexico, maybe you swim with giant sea turtles or climb the ancient Mayan Ruins. Whatever is calling you, there is adventure to be had!
Nature
When the world moves too fast and you lose yourself getting lost in the chaos, take a deep breath and become one with nature. Notice the colors of the sunset, feel the earth beneath your feet, and breath in the fresh air that surrounds you. When you take a moment to appreciate the wonder of our earth, things tend to slow down and come back in to perspective. Those work emails become not-so-important and social media becomes an afterthought.
New Friends
Probably our favorite benefit of a yoga and surf retreat is meeting some of the best people the world has to offer. When you take time to be yourself and do things for yourself, you tend to attract your tribe. What I mean by this is other people who seem to be on the same wave length as you. The small conversations you have over dinner sharing your thoughts, your hopes, your dreams, your fears, become the building blocks that form a strong foundational bond.
Relaxation
Most Yoga and Surf retreats will offer a relaxation component. Fab Fit Travel offers a complementary spa package for every guest. This is usually a 60-minute, full-body massage. But can also include extra pamper time like facials, manicure/ pedicure, or some reiki or energy healing. Relaxation is just as important as work. We work ourselves to the bone. It’s a wonder why we don’t value relaxation more.
Nourishment
Your body is the machine that allows you to live your life in this physical world and what we feed our body is what we will get out. Yoga and surf retreats will undoubtedly take the food and menu very seriously. Food is the energy source to rebuild your body at the cellular level. When we are mindful about the nutrients we’re feeding our body, we allow our body to process and work more efficiently. The crazy part is, you can actually tell a difference by the end of the retreat. Your body feels tighter and lighter. Your skin becomes clearer, your eyes shine a little bit brighter. You begin to think clearer and happier! And this all starts with what you feed yourself.
